Ina48-pagecomplaintfiledinTazewellCountyCircuitCourt,theRNC,theNationalRepublicanCongressionalCommittee,andReps.BenClineandMorganGriffithofVirginiacontendthatlegislationpassedbytheDemocratic-controlledGeneralAssemblywouldallowlawmakerstotemporarilytakeovercongressionalredistrictingfromthestate’svoter-approvedindependentcommission.
ThelawsuitchallengesHouseBill1384,whichsetsaspecialelectiononApril21forvoterstodecidewhethertoamendtheVirginiaConstitutiontoallowtheGeneralAssemblytotemporarilyredrawthestate’scongressionaldistrictsto“restorefairnessintheupcomingelections.”
