“Donut forget to register to vote!’’: Volunteer and Civic Engagement Programs encourages students to register to vote

In celebration of National Voter Registration Day, Volunteer and Civic Engagement Programs held a table event where students could get a free donut and register to vote.
The event took place on Tuesday, Sept. 16 in the Milo Bail Plaza from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and was the first time something like this was done on campus.
Students were encouraged to check in, grab a free donut and either check their voter registration status or register to vote.
TheVolunteerandCivicEngagementProgramsworkedwiththeNebraskaCivicEngagementTabletohelpstudentslearnhowtoregisterandgetinvolvedinthecommunity.
Theyalsohadfunactivitiesforstudents,includingalargeConnectFourandcornhole.
Astudentwalkingbycouldseetwopeopledressedindonutcostumesencouragingthemtoparticipateandgetafreedonut.RomanConstantino,agraduateassistantatUNO,wasoneofthesepeopleinadonutcostume.Hewalkedbackandforth,sometimesdoinglittledancesandengagingwithstudentswalkingby.
